JD Nelson — Owner / Inspector

JD Nelson, owner and inspector of Imperial Inspection Services, spent 15 years in the United States Air Force and has years of experience working with HVAC systems. He joined the home inspection industry in 2011 as a Certified Professional Home Inspector by American Home Inspectors Training (AHIT). A year later, JD obtained the certification of Certified Professional Inspector through the International Association of Home Inspectors (InterNACHI). He is also a Certified Radon Measurement Technician and has a diverse background in the home inspection industry, filling positions from General Manager to Director of Expansion. JD has successfully completed over 3000 inspections throughout Iowa. He remains committed to bringing the values instilled in him during his military career, combined with thorough training and a hands-on approach, to each comprehensive home inspection.

When he’s not inspecting homes, JD loves spending time with his six-year-old son, family and friends. He enjoys building lasting relationships, sharing meaningful memories and showing his son the beauty of Iowa’s outdoors through the pastimes of hunting, fishing and football.

Scott Edwards — Owner / Inspector

Scott, founder and inspector at Imperial Inspection Services, joined the home inspection industry in 2014 and has an extensive background in construction and home maintenance. He is a Certified Professional Inspector through both The AmeriSpec Academy and InterNACHI. Additionally, Scott is certified by the State of Iowa to perform termite and WDI, or wood destroying insect inspections. He has provided over 1500 quality inspections to Des Moines residents and has a tremendous track record for attention to detail and outstanding customer relations.

Scott is a devoted family man. He values the time he spends with his wife and three (soon to be four) children. He’s an avid hunter, fisher and Cub’s fan. Scott is committed to his church and remains active within its community.

Joe Laxton — Inspector

Joe is a full-time inspector with Imperial Inspection Services and brings years of experience in business and real estate to each exceptional home inspection.  He is a Certified Professional Home Inspector through The AmeriSpec Academy and is a member of InterNACHI with over 1500 completed home inspections. Joe is a talented professional and offers unique insight into home inspections with his real estate knowledge. He has impeccable credentials and is dedicated to his customers’ complete satisfaction.

In his free time, Joe enjoys exploring the outdoors with his wife and two children. He also rides dirtbikes and stays physically fit by taking advantage of his gym. He has an extreme passion for all things real estate related, continued learning and health and fitness.

Jesus San Elias — Inspector (Bilingual)

Jesus lives in West Des Moines and is bilingual. He has a very extensive background in construction and customer service. He competed our extensve training program and became a certified InterNACHI inspector in 2017. Jesus has the integrity and passion a client desevers when choosing a home inspector. Jesus looks forward to serving his clients with clarity and understanding. He enjoys the outdoors and spending time with his family.
